The Artistic Directors of Compagnie Isabel & Jon, Isabel Gotzkowsky and Jon Zimmerman, worked together for many years in Gotzkowsky’s New York City based company, Isabel Gotzkowsky and Friends. Since January of 2012 they live and work in Berlin, where they founded Compagnie Isabel & Jon this summer. Isabel and Jon enter a fascinating journey between themes of time, space and dreams with their debut program titled ‘ZeiT(R)äume’. Biographic moments and political themes fuse to form memory and movement patterns that constantly redefine themselves and surprise the viewer.

The company will perform Gotzkowsky’s new work, 'Bridges', a piece about isolation, being lost and creating interpersonal bridges 'Crossroads‘, also choreographed by Gotzkowsky, was created in September of 2001 and was an immediate reaction to the tragic assault on the twin towers in New York. A true enthusiast of math and patterns, Zimmerman creates ‘The Stillness of Motion’, a physical prayer utilizing repetitive patterns as metaphor for life’s journey and the passage of time. The journey of the individual is unique, but when viewed ‘en mass’ similarities emerge and become recognizable.

Compagnie Isabel & Jon thanks Tanzakademie Balance 1 (rehearsal space), Nekoko -kreativ-shop und Bettina Flohr (costumes, pro bono), Marc Feigenspan (music) und Bettina Stöß (photos) for their generous support of this production.
